Focus should always be on the contextual quality of the content,and not on too many keywords, or filling meta tags - google’s algorithms will spot this (dont think they wont). Less competitive phrases, quality content aimed at baiting and holding the interest, these are great points that have been raised.

Yes, the point about the long keyword phrases being best is very true. I have seen this in action many times.
As well as targeting the less competitive keywords, you can target more competitive keywords in combination. For example, a new blog or site will never rank for “make money”. But if you combine those words with the location of your city or town and another often searched word like “eBay” or “affiliate” then you’re sure to hit an untapped vein eventually! Keep mixing up keywords like this in blog and page titles and you will definitely pull in some good, targeted traffic over time.
