Google Still Dominating U.S. Searches
Google accounted for 71.16 percent of all U.S. searches in the four weeks ending September 27, 2008, according to Hitwise.
Google increased its percentage of the search market 7.61 percent over its September percentage of 63.55 percent and was up slightly over August 2008 by 0.15 percent.
Yahoo! Search, MSN Search and Ask.com each received 18.06 percent, 5.63 percent and 3.63 percent respectively.
The remaining 45 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 1.80 percent of U.S. searches.
Search engines continue to be the primary way Internet users navigate to key industry categories. Comparing September 2008 with September 2007, business and finance, sports, online video and social networking categories showed double-digit increases in their share of traffic coming directly from search engines.

I too agree that Google dominates all other search engines not only in U.S, but in rest of the world. Since google is the top rated search engine, it not only generates the majority of search engine traffic in its own rights, but it also supplies results to other search engines.

Google has become a verb, an adjective. Isn’t that enough to show how popular it is? Nonetheless I too use Google for my searches. The other search engines have much catching up to do!

Google is dominaing searches in Uk and Europe as well where Google’s share of the market is increasing much like in the US. With the launch of Chrome and additional services such as Google apps for business, Google’s domination is only going to strengthen further in the coming years.

I knew they were the most popular but 70% seems like an awfully big number!
